Sanderford Road Center

Raleigh, NC

Client City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation

This 3,300 square foot neighborhood center was designed to be a central gathering space for this community-driven southeast Raleigh park. The program includes a large community meeting room and computer classrooms. The building was oriented to take advantage of daylighting opportunities year-round, and natural shade from existing deciduous trees during the summer months.

The owner had a particular interest in implementing universal accessibility and green building technologies. Five potential schemes were evaluated by our team, the City, and the neighborhood to reach a consensus on building placement and conformance with the intent of the park’s original master plan.

Green Features

  • Rainwater collection system
  • Natural clerestory daylighting
  • Efficient building envelope and HVAC system

Each project listed above exemplifies one or more of the learning, wellness, and recreational qualities that are the focus of our designed spaces.
