The City of Raleigh Celebrates Opening of the Hill Street Park Center in East Central Raleigh

The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department held a ribbon cutting for the opening of the Hill Street Park Center on January 9th. The neighborhood center was conceived in a master planning process for the 16 acre property, which will be transformed into a nature-oriented, walkable, and education-oriented neighborhood park. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the park center included City Councilman John Odom, Diane Sauer and Dick Bailey from the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department, along with local residents.

Designed by HH Architecture, the 3,700 square foot neighborhood center includes a large multi-purpose room, an activity room, a staff office, a conference room, and a kitchen. Exterior features include a sheltered outdoor classroom with wireless access. The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department will provide programmed activities and events serving the surrounding community.

HH Architecture’s Prajakta Bagul Becomes Registered Architect

Raleigh, N.C. - HH Architecture’s Prajakta Bagul, AIA, LEEP AP BD+C, successfully completed the Architectural Registration Examination and is now a Registered Architect. Specializing in construction administration, project management, and design, Ms. Bagul began working for HH Architecture in 2011 as an architectural intern and has assumed her new role of Architect.

HH Architecture Dedicates Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults

The Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults commemorated its grand opening on November 1st to celebrate the wide variety of services, which will now be offered within the Raleigh community.  Mayor Pro Tem Russ Stephenson, several Raleigh City Council members and Anne Gordon attended the ceremony.

This contemporary 4,600 square foot facility was designed by HH Architecture specifically with the ages 50 plus demographic in mind.  The building includes an easy to follow floor plan as well as day-lit interior spaces that decrease glare.  The design intention for the interior was to establish a functional, yet welcoming and cozy environment for the clientele.

Ronald McDonald House of Durham Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting on New Expansion

The Ronald McDonald House of Durham held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of its new expansion. The project added 28 new suites for families, more than doubling the size of the original facility. The expansion also included 26,000 square feet of living space, as well as a community room, expanded play areas, quiet spaces for studying, a chapel, and more.

HH Architecture designed the new facility to create a comfortable, welcoming environment for families of seriously ill children who must travel to receive specialized care at Duke Children’s Hospital. The space was also designed to be LEED Silver equivalent, featuring low maintenance and durable materials, a healthy indoor environment, and naturally day-lit spaces.

The ribbon-cutting featured dignitaries from Duke University Medical Center, Board Members from Ronald McDonald House of Durham, community leaders, and Governor Beverly Purdue.

City of Raleigh Dedicates Five Points Center for Active Adults

Wake County and the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department celebrated the grand opening of the Five Points Center for Active Adults, located off of Whitaker Mill Road. As one of the first two city-owned senior centers, the 20,000-square-foot center is now open and holding adult programs.

HH Architecture designed the facility, which includes a large multi-purpose area; fitness, art, and game rooms; and a commercial kitchen for serving Meals on Wheels patrons.

Currently pursuing LEED Silver certification through the US Green Building Council, the center’s sustainable design features include a rainwater collection and reuse system, optimal allowance of day-lighting, and the use of local, natural building materials.
